Fishing Wars Coral Guide — Seed Shop, Growing & the Investing Strategy

Coral is Fishing Wars’ quiet money machine — the community calls it “investing” and even the developers describe it as stocks. Here’s how the confirmed system works.

The coral loop

  1. Buy packs at the Seed Shop. The shop in your base sells coral packs — card-pack style bundles you open for coral specimens. You can open several at once.
  2. Plant and wait. Coral grows over real time. The in-game copy is explicit: “Coral takes a bit of time to grow.”
  3. Sell at the Sell Corals stand. Your base has a dedicated stand for cashing out grown coral.

Rarity tiers

Coral rolls rarity just like fish. Confirmed so far:

  • Common corals — the filler of every pack. Players actively replace them (“how to remove ur corals i wanna remove these common ones and put legendaries”).
  • Brain Coral — named in launch footage.
  • Psychedelic Coral — the early trophy grow (“the psychedelic coral is so sick”).
  • Legendary corals — exist, confirmed by the quote above.

The investing strategy

The reason players treat coral like the stock market:

  • Passive compounding — coral grows while you fish, fight or get robbed. It’s the only income that doesn’t require you to be on the water.
  • Pack EV matters — you’re buying expected value per pack. Common pulls happen; one legendary coral pays for many packs. (Exact per-coral prices and odds are not published — yet.)
  • Base placement — your coral bed sits inside your safe-zone base, so unlike your fish, nobody can kill you to take it.

Video walkthrough — carry game opens Seed Shop coral packs mid-run, plants a free pack in the base, and shows the spawning corals before setting out again.

Why it’s strong early

Aquarium fish can be stolen; coral cannot. Every dollar funneled into coral in the early game is a dollar a raider can’t touch, and by the time you’re fighting over mythicals, the Seed Shop has been quietly paying your bills.

Unknowns (honest list)

  • Per-coral sale prices and growth timers: not published.
  • Whether coral provides passive buffs (like the fish money boost) or is sell-only: unverified — the community currently treats it as sell-only.
  • Whether the Mutation Event adds coral variants: watch the updates page.
