The Kraken is Fishing Wars’ headline monster. The official description makes it the game’s final-line promise: “Beware of the Kraken. It lurks in the deepest parts of the ocean. The battle will be brutal, but the rewards are worth it.”

What’s confirmed

• Location: the deepest part of the ocean — past the deep cabin waters, in the direction of the mythic zone. You need a leveled boat and a reason to be out there.
• It’s a fight, not a fish — the description calls it a brutal battle.
• It’s catchable: a Kraken can end up in your aquarium as a held fish (pink name, observed at $240/s).
• It’s stealable: the defining launch-week moment was a player killing a Kraken’s owner mid-run, taking the Kraken, and escaping four chasers at 500 HP. A caught Kraken is a trophy — and bait.
• Group farming exists: players team up in servers to “farm krakens,” splitting spawns.

How to prepare

1. Level up first. The deep zones skew brutal; you want the mid-tier boats (Pirate Ship line) and a stack of shields before you sail past the cabin.
2. Bring turrets. Two turrets is the community-standard combat setup — the Kraken fight is a damage race like any boss.
3. Shields win the escape. If the fight drops you low, the safe zone is far. Three-shield setups have survived worse than a Kraken retreat.
4. Know the storm. Storm fronts roll in without warning in open water; fighting a Kraken in one is how runs end.

The kill-and-run loop

The established play pattern from launch week:

1. Farm or fight the Kraken in the deep zone.
2. Secure the catch — it goes to your inventory/aquarium chain.
3. Leave immediately. A Kraken sighting travels fast in an 8-player server, and everyone in chat now knows what you’re carrying.
4. Teleport home if contested. A $240/s trophy is worth far less than the fish you’ll drop if you sink.
