How to Protect Your Fish in Fishing Wars — PvP Survival Guide
The “Wars” in Fishing Wars is literal: kill another player and you can take the fish straight out of their aquarium. One launch-day player lost everything this way — “I just took EVERYTHING FROM HIM.” Here’s how to be the robber, not the mark.
What happens when you die
Confirmed death penalty: you drop fish, and anyone nearby can scoop them up. A player who died in the mythic zone had to “recollect three clown fishes worth” plus cash. Your boat is your health bar (a fresh boat shows 1250/1250) — when it breaks, you’re loot.
The community-standard loadout
From the developers’ own launch duel and community consensus:
- Two turrets — the go-to damage setup. Turrets auto-fire, so you deal damage while piloting.
- Shields, stacked — the single strongest defensive item (“the most OP item is a shield, I can’t even lie”). One player survived a full burst with three shields equipped. Shields absorb incoming fire and buy you escape time.
- Freeze gun — freezes a target in place. Devastating against fleeing boats.
- Cannon — your early-game damage dealer; stays useful for boat-on-boat fights.
Escape tools
- Teleport — every base has a teleport pad. Teleporting home is the ultimate “break contact” button, and veterans hit it the moment a fight turns.
- Safe zones — your base and the lighthouse area are safe: no PvP, and you heal faster there. Camping inside is legal but looked down on.
- Know your escape route — before you fish a far zone, check the distance home. Half of PvP in this game is not being there when the raid arrives.
Robbing someone (yes, that’s the game)
- Find a player mid-session with a full aquarium — the leaderboard helps you find rich targets.
- Sink their boat with turrets/cannon.
- Grab what drops. Confirmed stealable: aquarium fish (even a caught Kraken), boat cargo.
- Run. One player stole a Kraken and escaped four chasers at 500 HP. The steal is only half the job — the escape is the other half.
The official rules of engagement
From the team’s launch-day notices:
- Teaming to target a player = kick. The game wants free-for-all piracy, not organized bullying.
- Anti-bullying system — new players get protection mechanics; details are not published.
- Duels are supported for consensual 1v1s.
Mindset
The developer’s own line: “The game is supposed to be experienced with friends.” Losing your fish stings, but it’s the loop — every fish you stock is bait for the next fight. Keep the aquarium diversified, keep shields equipped, and teleport home rich.
